Flowers and Programs?

I have only been to a few weddings, and really cannot remember much about them. My bridesmaids are wearing a burgundy dress and my maid of honor a navy blue dress. Do I have the flowers that are going in the candellabras be a mixture of burgundy and navy blue? Or do you usually just get white? I want to add color to my reception site, but also do not want to go over board.

Also, I want to have programs made up. Does anyone have any ideas on what I should get? Should I just get basic ones and add the ribbon myself? Or should I just get ones with a picture of like a rose or something on it.

Thanks to everyone for their help.

Flowers and Programs?
I would go for a more colorful mix of flowers as you said. Any colors would be good really, as long they complement burgundy and navy.

For the programs, personally I like the plain ones on nice paper with a ribbon or something, better than I like the floral ones printed on cheap paper because they remind me of church bulletins, very forgettable items. Actually, I would encourage you to make your own if you have time and a computer because yours will be nicer. See paper-source.com and look at their Videos section for very easy, simple programs which you can copy yourself. Just an idea.
Reply:for the programs i made them up myself-(my wedd. this Oct)go to a local craft store like Joanne Fabrics and they have all sorts paper to choose from. The flowers, its all up to you,its your wedding. I would go with a mixture so it don't looks like the boring white.
Reply:Burgundy and navy are lovely, rich colours. Something that might be nice is a softer version of those colours in the flowers. Pinks and sprayed blue flowers might be really nice.

When I got married (second time) I wore a pink dress. My Mom was my attendant and wore a rich blue. We had similar bouquets with blue and pink and white flowers, but hers had more of the blue and mine more of the pink. It was gorgeous.

Extra bonus: carnations last well all day and smell wonderful.
Reply:I have helped out with a lot of weddings. I'm a seamstress by trade, and I do programs and flowers too. this is your special day! your wedding is a reflection of your style! it's all about what YOU want. and how you want to portray yourself. don't be afraid to be different! some of the most beautiful weddings happened because it wasn't ordinary!
Reply:mix the table by doing one table with more burgandy with navy blue fill and the next with navy blue with burgandy fill, or just do a mixture of both. Either way they will look very nice add baby breath for the white.
