I am going to a daytime wedding in June. Can I wear a dress that have a white background?

Is in an English Heritage art deco palace. The dress is to the knee and with very big bold royal blue flowers. I am planning to wear a big hat and heels? But which colour? Please help.

I am going to a daytime wedding in June. Can I wear a dress that have a white background?
I give you this quote from "Never Been Kissed" starring the incomparable Drew Barrymore:

Josie Geller: That'll teach me to wear white after labor day.

Gibby Zerefski: I don't think you're supposed to wear white after 1983.
Reply:Hat and heels (and your bag) could be the royal blue colour - if you can match... Or how about silvery/grey... Sounds lovely - you might want a wrap/shawl in case it gets cooler in the evening too.
Reply:yes you can wear a dress with a white background..it sounds lovely with bold royal blue flowers!! you can either wear white shoes %26amp; hat..or the same royal blue as the dress...if it was me - i would opt for plain white accessories and there sounds like enough royal blue in the dress for it to be acceptable...you wont be in too much white..competing with the bride!! - have fun..sounds very plush at a palace!
Reply:white hat. white heels
Reply:of couse you can wear a dress with a white ground( technical term for backround).

white hat with blue or yellow trim...

heels..keep to same as dress...especially since dress is a bold print..you don't want to bring in too many colours..or distractions.

make the dress the focal point.

let the hat compliment %26amp; blend with dress.
Reply:I would suggest a blue. However, if the blue flowers are printed on a white or coloured background. Go with the coloured background.
Reply:Brides wear white on thier wedding day. Noone else.
Reply:There was a time when you would be looked down on for wearing any form of white to a wedding. Now days it's okay as long as you are not wearing all white. Just don't wear white shoes, hat, and bag. That would be a little to obvious that you are trying to compete with the bride. Make a simple statement, with the shoes, hat, bag. Try not to go really bold, try to make your shoes, hat, and bag a shade lighter than your dress. Good Luck.
Reply:Yes, you just can't wear all white. If it was down to the floor and you were wearing a veil, I think that might get you in trouble! Enjoy yourself
Reply:Royal blue and white are lovely. Your hat, shoes and handbag should be similar blue or white. You will look lovely I am sure.
Reply:It is perfectly fine to wear a white print dress. Just don't go solid white for obvious reasons. As far as matching the hat and shoes, you could go with a matching blue or any of the khaki or neutral brown colors. I suggest you take your dress or wear it when you go shoe shopping.

The link below is very informative and suggests to stick with florals pink, yellow or blue. Although it says not to wear white, I assume it means solid white.
