What can I use to get a really clear shade of blue in my vase (so it looks like blue ocean water)? natural?

my centerpiece idea:

fish bowl, with floating flower, %26amp; clear blue water

what else can I add to my bowl? I can only think of rocks, but is there anything shinny I can add also?

Thanks for the help!

add a few drops of food coloring to the water. drop clear marble-like glass beads in the bottom on top of a thin layer of sand. you can get the beads at the dollar store and sand at home depot - unless you already live near the beach!
Reply:O.K. first thing, to make your water blue, use Mrs. Stewarts bluing (available in laundry section of grocery stores) then to add a little sparkle or shinny, try some colorful marbles, they are cheap and if you had flowers with stems, would hold them in place. Be careful in the use of the bluing as a little goes a long way, drop by drop is the answer!
Reply:food coloring

fish (1 blue japanese fighting fish)

rocks

shells

ocean/water plants

sand

marbles
Reply:We tried sand for ours- it just looks muddy and kinds floated around until it settled- ugh. Try a mirror under the bowl %26amp; candles in clear glass votives/ tea lights to add sparkle- fake diamonds/ crystals... We decided on a clear glass plate (a real dinner plate! They are 10 inches and only $1.50 at Walmart!), 3 pillar candles in varied heights and sat them in a bed of sand. Then scattered petals all around the plate. This was done on 1/2 the tables. On the other 1/2- I bought tall cylinder vases form Goodwill for $1 each- filled them with tiny tiny limes and water, then the florist who made ONLY the bridal party flowers ordered extra stems of orange and hot pink calla lillies that we stuck in the vases (ourself-no arrangement fee!) and let them sorta 'flop' over the edge. We then put candles in votives around the floral centerpiece and roses petals liek on the others. This was a 'tropical themed' wedding. Best Wishes! I shopped on Craigslist.org and at Goodwill for lots of things- bought all my table cloths (18 white round and 3 rectangle buffet style) on CL for $90 (less than renting and then I can resell!) and hot pink chair sashes (145 of them) for $80 (again less than renting !) I shopped the Goodwills near me for candles, vases, baskets...the DOllar store for shells, candles, votives, paper lanterns, bamboo palcemats that I took apart and used to decorate other things...Best Wishes!

(FYI- $500 for bridal bouquet (orange callas, pink roses, lime green roses), 2 bridesmaids (callas only), groom (2 callas), 2 groomsmen, Father, ringbearer, flowers for the ladies hair, wristlet for Mom, officiant, cake flowers, petals for tossing and scattering, and a head table centerpiece, and callas for the 5 centerpieces that had flowers (the other 6 had candles %26amp; petals)
Reply:A tiny bit of blue food coloring will help dye the water. What color is the flower candle? I would do a clear, silvery shiny glass beads in the bottom. Like the ones used in fish tanks, I used these for mine, and they looked amazing! Make sure it has some sort of iridescence, or shimmer to it, so it picks up the light. You can get these at any pet store (=]), craft store, they even sell them at some dollar stores! Good luck! Congrats!
Reply:a small amount of blue food coloring. You could also add these stones that everybody is using now. They are in bags at the hobby stores or even at wal- mart in the craft area. They have some that are a slight color of blue and they shine really pretty. They aslo have silver ones.
