What is your bathroom theme, or do you have one? What is a good color for a bathroom?

my husband and I are wanting to paint our bathroom. I have this cute european print curtain. It looks like a street right out of italy and it has flowers and a cafe' on it. I would like a color to go with the curtain. To compliment it you know. It has purple, green, blue, pink, yellow, orange, maybe a little bit of red and black. So what do you say...

What is your bathroom theme, or do you have one? What is a good color for a bathroom?
Do you get claustrophobic?

I ask that question because most bathrooms are not all that big and dark colors will close the room in even further.

If you choose the dominant color in the shower curtain for your wall color the curtain itself will tend to "disappear" into its' surroundings and the pattern on the curtain ( it sounds lovely ) will become your focus. If you choose one of the lesser colors in the print it will make that particular color pop.

What color are your bath linens?

I am imagining that your shower curtain has that Tuscan gold/beige background. I would go with that color only maybe a shade deeper on the wall. Pick a couple of the colors you really like in the curtain and add towels in these colors. Maybe bath towels in purple and hand towels in red.

Hang the hand towels over the bath towels and maybe add a terrific Tuscan inspired napkin ring decoratively on the hand towels.

My BR theme is a garden. I hand painted a garden gate on the wall and have cabbage roses on my shower curtain ( white background with big pink roses ). The walls are a very pale pink/peach color with a few roses "wallies" scattered around. The rug is rose colored and the towels are HOT pink ( my favorite color ). The floor is bone colored tile.
Reply:mine is all stars/moons theme. my floor is white and orange with a white marble countertop. my wallpaper is an orange/offwhite kind of splash pattern with a moon/sun/stars border %26amp;we cut out some of the images on the border and pasted them on the walls. i have matching towels %26amp;all sink accessories too!
Reply:that is a lot of colors. what color is the least? that is the one you should use to accent cause it will bring that color out of the curtain.
Reply:I think basic is best. Black and white...
Reply:Black is beautiful for a bathroom.
Reply:mine is light and airy outdoorsy colours...i have a light green and light blue and white and then a bright green accent...i have a ton of white ceramic tiles and then some blue glass tiles...white fabric shower curtain...and some very bold pictures of flowers..
Reply:Black. All black.
Reply:Contemporary Mess.
Reply:Our bathroom at home has kind of a dark pink/maroon-ish colored theme. It works nicely.
Reply:i would say because you are wanting to incorporate a little bit of italy, go with red and maybe some black. that will make it romantic.

if you are wanting something more calming, i would go with blue probably.
Reply:Oooh, that curtain sounds gorgeous. I think I would go with a lovely shade of green, something like "topiary tint" by Sherwin Williams - make you feel like you're outside.

And THEN, you could paint a fab Tuscan stencil over top, like one of these:

in maybe a slightly lighter color, like SW's "greening," so it adds texture %26amp; interest, but doesn't over power the curtain.

My bathroom has an old-style Coca-cola shower curtain, with tan, green %26amp; red on it. The walls are painted a base color of a light peanut butter, and then there are horizontal stripes in red, green %26amp; dark brown that go around the entire room.
