What would you wear to a formal evening wedding?

I am a guest at my brothers formal wedding wedding (March 25) that is in the evening. I have a couple of choices:

1. Black velvet, beaded bodice, sleeveless dress. Ankle length.

2. Light blue satin, halter gown with some embroidery around the waist. Ankle length.

3. Cream colored, draped bodice swags at neckline, black and sparkling flowers with a matching black cardigan. Knee length.

4. Forest green velvet suit, sheath dress underneath, matching jacket. Calf length.

Also, please tell why.

What would you wear to a formal evening wedding?
the blue or cream. i'm a fashion designer and i can tell you that velvet is for the holiday seasons. its becoming spring and the other 2 choices are more acceptable. i don't know exactly what they look like, but pick the one that's more up to date. i don't understand the 3rd one. a cream dress with a cowl neckline and is knee length. but it also has black sparkly flowers all over it? i'm confused.
Reply:If it's a formal evening wedding, you should wear a floor-length dress -- not knee or calf length.
Reply:1 or 2 with matching color shawl.

3 sounds too casual with cardigan and knee length skirt

4 sound too much like heavy business suit
Reply:# 3 it's kind of in between seasons so the color is neutral and a cardigan will come in handy if it gets cold or can be taken off if it gets warm
Reply:The first choice for a colder climate.

The second choice for a warmer climate.

Late March is hard, because you could freeze!! Velvet is a great choice if it's that weird early spring weather, and especially if the wedding's at night.

Have fun!
Reply:I like your first choice definitely #1
Reply:ok, well I would pick number 2. here is why: march is the beginning of spring, so you do not want to wear heavy materials that are more suited to colder seasons. blue is a nice springy color, and the satin will move well when dancing. ankle length is suitable for a formal wedding, you do not want anything shorter, or it will look more semi-formal, therefore inapropriate. the black or green are more suited to winter, or also fall for the green, and because of the black on the cream dress, it is also more geared twards winter. go with the blue!!

2. Light blue satin, halter gown with some embroidery around the waist. Ankle length.

HEY COME ON ITS UR BROTHERS WEDDING YOU SHOULD WEAR STH REALLY NICE,AND SURE NT THE CREAM COLOR,AND THE GREEN IS A SUIT SO NOOO,YOU SHOULD BE WEARING A DRESS,AND I COUNT BLACK DRESSES ARE THE BEST FOR A FORMAL EVENT ESP WEDDINGS,GOOD LUCK AND LET US KNOW WHAT U'LL WEAR.
Reply:I like #2 and #3
Reply:2 absolutely. again velvet is for winter =) satin is great for springs and i wouldnt wear anything shorter than ankle length for a formal wedding. also u might want to know what their colors are...if the bridesmaids are wearing light blue too then you may want to wear something else.
