I really like the look of the pictures where the photo is set in black and white except a certain color or section of the photo which is in color. Such as a picture of a little girl in a field where the flowers may be blue but the rest of the photo in greyscale or a picture of two girls and only their shirts are in color. What is this photo effect called and how to I achieve it?
How do I create this photo effect?
Open a color photo into photoshop.
- make a hue/saturation layer
- set saturation to 0
now your whole photo should black and white.
- select the brush tool
- make sure your fill color is black
- make sure you have the mask of the hue/saturation layer selected.
- paint the areas you want the color to show through.

Reply:may depend on what tools you have, you could use paint and copy from color to b%26amp;w, or use photofiltre to do the same more conveniently, or use Gimp with the use of layers of b%26amp;w over color, if you have photoshop or paintshop pro, those can achieve same effects, search on line for several tutorials for black and white with color, or selective color, or colorizing

Reply:You can download Picassa (it's free) and do this simple steps...
Import you image
Go to the Effects tab
Select the Focal B%26amp;W Effect
when you are there all you need to do is set the color when you want it and graduate the size and intensity, and you are set!

Reply:Download Paint.Net. Upload your pic, go to layers and duplicate layer.Go to effects and make it Grey scale. Then use eraser to colour the part you want i.e a Flower etc. Hope this helps
